Skill Level: Beginner
This adorable scarf features the “Three and Two” stitch AND a magical ruffle! The three and two stitch creates a lovely, lacy look but is remarkably easy to create. The ruffle (optional, of course) adds a bit of whimsy, and is another very easy skill to learn.
You can use any yarn and hook that you’d like for your Three and Two project. The yarn that I used was Sirdar Jewelspun Ombre in the color Ocean Blue - you can check it out here! It’s a beautiful medium weight yarn with lovely, gentle color changes. I also used my very favorite H/5.0mm Clover Amour Crochet Hook.

Pattern Skills:
Here are the only skills you’ll use to complete this pattern:
Chain
Double Crochet
The Pattern!
Below you’ll find the written instructions for my Three and Two Ruffle Scarf. Before you begin, you should know that if you’d like to adjust the width of your scarf, you can do so by adding or removing chains from our foundation chain. Just make sure your chain is a multiple of 6 + 2 + 2. To adjust the length of your scarf, just work as many (or as few) rows as you’d like until it’s the desired length.
Pattern Abbreviations:
ch = chain
dc(s) = double crochet(s)
st(s) = stitch(es)
sp = space
V st = V Stitch (double crochet, chain 1, double crochet)
Chain 28 (multiple is 6 + 2 + 2)
Row 1: Work a V stitch in the 5th chain from hook. *Sk 2 chs, work 3 dc in next. Sk 2 chs, work a V st in next. Repeat from asterisk across row until 2 chs remain. Sk 1 ch, work 1 dc in the last ch.
Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Dc in 1st st. *Work 3 dc into the middle/2nd dc of the 3dcs from the row below. Work a V st in the ch-1 sp of the next V st from the row below. Repeat from asterisk across to end of the row. End row with 1 dc in the last st.
Row 3: Ch 1, turn. Dc in 1st st. *Work a V st in the ch-1 sp of the next V st from the row below. Work 3 dc in the middle/2nd dc of the 3dcs from the row below. Repeat from asterisk across to end of row, and work 1 dc in the last st.
Rows 4- 115: Repeat rows 2 and 3, alternately.
Ruffle: Before cutting your yarn, begin your ruffle by chaining 3 (counts as dc), and turning your work. Work 4 dc in the first st. Work 5 dc in every st and ch-1 sp across to end of row. Fasten off.
Attach to the other end of your scarf using a slip st in the first st of your row. Ch 3 (counts as dc), and work 4dc into that same st. Work 5 dc in every st across to end of row. Fasten off.
And that’s all there is to it!
I hope you have fun creating your own Three and Two Ruffle Scarf (with or without the ruffle!).
