The Waffle Stitch
The Waffle Stitch is so much fun, and learning it also teaches some great new skills (I’m looking at you, front post double crochet!). It can seem a bit intimidating if you’ve not tried working around a post in crochet before, but it’s a much easier stitch than it looks.
Great for blankets, scarves, or even for dishcloths or hand towels (though I’d recommend cotton yarn for those), it’s a versatile stitch that comes in handy for a huge range of projects! Whatever you decide to make, I hope you love working up this gorgeous waffle stitch!

Without further ado, here are the written instructions:
How To Crochet The Waffle Stitch:
Abbreviations:
ch(s) = chain(s)
sk = skip
tch 3 = turning chain 3
dc = double crochet
fpdc = front post double crochet
Create a foundation chain of any length in a multiple of 3 + 2
Row 1: Dc in 3rd ch from hook, and in each ch across to end of the row.
Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as a dc), turn. Sk 1st st, *fpdc next st, dc next 2 sts. Repeat from * across to end row with 1 dc in the last two sts. (For next repeats, this will be a dc in the last st, and a dc in the top of the tch 3).
Row 3: Ch 3 (counts as a dc), turn. Sk 1st st. *Dc in next st, fpdc next 2 sts. Repeat from * across to end row with a dc in the last 2 sts (remember - the last st is also the tch 3).
Repeat rows 2-3 until project is desired length, ending on row 2.
