The Wheatsheaf Stitch
I really love crocheting the Wheatsheaf stitch. It has a four row repeat that’s predictable enough to not be too difficult, but with enough variety to keep a longer project like a blanket from feeling like drudgery. I’m very much opposed to drudgery.
This stitch would look beautiful in a variety of projects - blankets, scarves, shawls and more. I like it best in a single color yearn to really show off those lovely stitches.

WHEATSHEAF STITCH WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS
Abbreviations:
ch = chain
sc = single crochet
sk = skip
dc = double crochet
hdc = half double crochet
st(s) = stitch(es)
sp = space
tch = turning chain
Stitch Multiple: 5 + 2 (create your starting/foundation chain in a multiple of 5, and add 2 extra chains)
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch. Sc in next ch. *Ch3, sk 2, 1 sc in each of next 3 chs. Repeat from * to end of the row, ending with 2 sc.
Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Sc in 1st st. *5 dc into ch 3 sp, sk 1 sc, 1 sc into next sc. Repeat from * across to end of row.
Row 3: Ch 3 (counts as hdc, ch 1), turn. 1 sc into each of the next 3 (dc) sts. *Ch 3, sk 3 sts. 1 sc into each of next 3 (dc) sts. Repeat from * across until 2 sts remaining. Ch 1, sk 1 st, hdc into last (sc) st.
Row 4: Ch 3 (counts as dc), turn. 2 dc in first (ch 1) ch space. Sk 1 (sc) st, 1 sc into next (sc) st. *5 dc into next ch 3 sp, sk 1 (sc) st, 1 sc in next st. Repeat from * across to the last chain space. Work 2 dc in ch sp, 1 dc in tch 3.
Row 5: Ch 1, turn. 1 sc into 1st 2 (dc) sts. *Ch 3, sk 3 sts, 1 sc into next 3 (dc) sts. Repeat from * across to end with sc in the last st, and 1sc into top of tch 3.
Repeat rows 2-5 until project has reached desired length.
